Camino de Santiago more than 1,000 kilometers from Compostela: It has been twelve years since l'Alfàs del Pi requested, through the local association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago, be the official exit of the central branch of the Southeast road. The first stage of the 15 km route between l'Alfàs – Benidorm has become a celebration this year that around 150 expedition members have shared, and in view of the good reception that the initiative has had, the experience will surely be repeated before the end of the year, they point out from the Valencian Community Council, with just over 20,000 inhabitants and more than a thousand kilometers from the Santiago Cathedral.
L'Alfàs del Pi is the starting point of the central branch of the Southeast road to Santiago with nine stages: l'Alfàs, Benidorm, Finestrat, Relleu, Torremanzanas, Ibi, Onil, Biar and Villena.
The expedition has been organized in collaboration with the association of Friends of the Camino de Santiago, guided by alfasino José Ángel García González, member of the association and an expert on the ground with more than 19 routes completed and around 6,000 kilometers traveled and willing to repeat the experience to publicize a section of the Camino de Santiago full of attractions. “Three times the Finisterra Muxía road, twice the French, Lebaniego, El Salvador and Veracruz roads, and once the Northern, Portuguese, English, Primitive, Aragonese, Sanabrés, Southeast, and Pedronia roads,” he explains.
