Caravaca de la Cruz has left its mark on FITUR 2025. With an original proposal and with the motto of its new tourism brand 'The road is made', the Department of Tourism of the Caravaca City Council transferred the essence of the Camino de la Cruz to the heart of Madrid, with a high-impact promotional action for two days in the emblematic and busy El Retiro Park. On the other hand, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture presented at the stand of the Region of Murcia the 'Strategy 2025-2031' to promote the Camino de la Cruz, an initiative that was born to give continuity to the Jubilee Year that has just closed.
The Caravaca City Council designed an immersive experience that recreated, on several routes in the park, the Camino de la Cruz. Visitors who pass through El Retiro every day were able to tour this signposted representation and meet actors dressed as pilgrims who, in addition to providing information about the municipality and its tourist offer, gave them a chance to taste the traditional yemas of Caravaca and transmitted the spirit of a destination with centuries of history.
The new brand is committed to consolidating the city as a slow destination, where religious, cultural, gastronomic, natural and sports tourism are integrated to deseasonalize its offer and project the city into the next inter-retirement years.
The implementation of the plan to promote the Camino de la Cruz will involve the investment of one million euros each year in promotional actions and events until the next Jubilee Year (6 million in total); 2.2 million euros for the rehabilitation of the Convent of San José, in Caravaca de la Cruz, and 2 million euros for actions to improve the infrastructure and services of the network of greenways through which the pilgrimage routes pass.
