The Lignum Crucis Comes to Life: 'Júbilus, the Adventure of the Camino' Begins Its Theatrical Tour of Cantabria and Castilla y León
SANTANDER, Cantabria - The Camino Lebaniego Foundation and the company Ulapé Theater come together to highlight the ancient history of Lignum Crucis through theatrical performance 'Júbilus, the Adventure of the Road'. This show, designed for all audiences, combines theater, pedagogy and heritage in an inspiring narrative that revives the deep tradition of the Camino Lebaniego. The tour will begin this Sunday, August 3, in Tudanca, to visit six towns in Cantabria and Castilla y León throughout the summer and autumn of 2025.

A Theatrical Journey that Transforms: Martín's Story
'Júbilus, the Adventure of the Camino' was originally conceived for educational centers in Cantabria during the last Lebaniego Jubilee Year, and is now open to the general public to bring the historical and spiritual richness of the relic of the Cross to a broader public.
The work tells the story of Martin, a capricious and somewhat grumpy child who, accompanying his parents to see the Lignum Crucis, gets lost along the way. This loss leads him to a chance encounter with a pilgrim. Through the experience of this pilgrim, Martín will explore the fascinating history of the Lignum Crucis: how and why it reached Liébana and the Monastery of Santo Toribio. The young protagonist will experience, in this way and in first person, the profound transformation that the Camino exerts, discovering his love for the heritage, history and culture that surrounds him.
The play recreates this adventure with a close, visual and emotional language, where music, oral tradition and careful staging invite both reflection and active participation of the public, making each performance an immersive experience.
A Cast Committed to the History of the Camino
The play is written, directed and performed by Eva Paula Ramos, a renowned performer and teacher. Along with her, the actor and propress Javier Mediavilla He embodies the role of the wise pilgrim. The technical and acting cast is completed with the participation of Consuelo Carravilla, José Manuel Zárate, Roberto Carrera and Daniel Engemann, who bring this emotional recreation to life.
