Tribute to women on the Camino de Santiago: In the heart of the Costa da Morte, where the sea and nature merge in a landscape of unparalleled beauty, is the municipality of Cee. There, starting this March 8 in the Plaza de la Mujer, a new symbol will rise to welcome those who walk the Camino. Pilgrims and visitors will be able to contemplate the sculpture of 'La Peregrina', by artist Miguel Couto, who pays tribute to all those women who, with firm steps, have made the Camino de Santiago an experience of personal improvement and growth.

The Camino de Santiago is a journey that tests body and soul, but this adventure does not end with arrival in Santiago de Compostela, since there is the possibility of knowing the end of the world by reaching Fisterra.

At this stop on the Xacobea Route, Cee is presented as the first window to the sea for pilgrims who wish to continue this experience. Upon arrival at the municipality, the first thing you will discover will be the Hermitage of San Pedro Mártir and its miraculous fountain, a place of rest and devotion; to continue along the Monte de la Armada, where for the first time since their departure from the Galician capital, they will be dazzled by an exceptional view of the coastline.

Next, in the foreground will be the Castles of the Prince and the Cardinal, from the 18th century, which defended the Cee-Corcubión estuary; Cape Cee with its small lighthouse; and in the background, Cape Fisterra. At this point one of the most impressive panoramic views of the Costa da Morte takes place, composed of Monte Pinto, the 'Celtic Olympus' rushing into the sea, with the Carrumerios islets and the Lobeiras islands in the center.Tribute to women on the Camino de Santiago

But this vital experience does not end here, since the pilgrims still have to travel through the historic center. There, on Rúa Magdalena, is the Pazo de Cotón, from the 16th century, and from Vázquez Queipo Street you will reach the monumental building of the Fernando Blanco de Lema Foundation, from the 19th century, considered one of the most important in Galicia and intended for teaching.

Upon leaving Rúa Magdalena you will cross the romantic Plaza del Olvido, with a picturesque fountain crowning the center. Later, this route will take you to know Alameda, where history and architecture are combined with emblematic buildings such as the Fernando Blanco de Lema Museum, or some stone mansions, witnesses of the past of this municipality.

After a mandatory stop at the Santuario da Nosa Señora da

This sculpture, within the 'Equality on the Road route' framework, is much more than an artistic piece. This pilgrim is the reflection of a traveler without stereotypes or complexes. A self-confident, strong and independent woman, who embarks on the adventure of walking the Camino de Santiago on her own... and along the way, becomes enthralled by the beauty of Cee and its privileged surroundings.
