The photographer Rafael Morales, a regular in culture in Fuerteventura and, above all, in Puerto del Rosario, will premiere his documentary this Sunday Camino de Santiago, a project that collects his experience traveling different Jacobean routes and that, in his words, aims to be both a visual and emotional testimony of this journey.

Morales, who has been participating in the Tetir Market for years with his photography stand, considers that this space is the ideal setting to present his work. «I think it is the best market in Fuerteventura, and a very good showcase to share this experience», he stated during an interview in The Xtra Morning.«Each Camino de Santiago is a unique experience»

The documentary arises from four years traveling different routes of the Camino de Santiago, including the French Camino from Sarria, the Portuguese Camino from Tui, the English Camino from Ferrol and the extension to Fisterra. During this time, he has gathered extensive graphic material that is now taking shape in an audiovisual story. «First I consider myself a pilgrim. Beyond the documentary, the Camino de Santiago is an enriching experience that I recommend to everyone», he assured.

The project has been possible thanks to the support of the Puerto del Rosario City Council and, in particular, the Councilor for Culture, Juan Jiménez, and the technician Jesús Mazón, who was in charge of shaping the documentary. Jiménez highlighted the importance of offering innovative cultural proposals in the Tetir Market, emphasizing that Morales' work "It is a reflection of his passion for photography and travel, as well as a testimony to the diversity and spirit of the Camino".

In addition to the documentary, Morales announced that he has new projects underway. In May, coinciding with Canary Islands Day, it will present an exhibition at the Puerto del Rosario House of Culture with modern images of the city, highlighting its transformation and the urban art that decorates it. «It is my way of paying tribute to Puerto del Rosario, the city where I have been for more than 40 years», he explained. For October, he is preparing another more personal exhibition, of which he has not yet wanted to reveal too many details.

The Camino de Santiago has deeply marked the photographer, not only as a professional, but also personally. «There is something special in every trip. You meet people from all over the world, each with their story, with their purpose. It is an experience that changes you.", he pointed out. In his next challenge, he plans to travel the Camino de Invierno, a less traveled route that crosses the Ponferrada area and is known for the harshness of its climate in the cold months.
