The Civil Guard maintains a search device to locate a 42-year-old Croatian pilgrim. Maximum dissemination is requested among pilgrims, shelters, hospital workers and residents of the area.
LEÓN, August 9, 2026. — The Camino de Santiago needs everyone's help today. The Civil Guard is looking for a 42-year-old Croatian pilgrim of which there has been no news since the morning of Saturday August 8, when he planned to carry out the stage between Astorga and the Cruz de Ferro, in Foncebadón, in the León region of Maragatería.
The alert was given by his wife after the family stopped hearing from him during the day on Saturday. From that notice the search device was launched.
🔴 DATA TO IDENTIFY IT
The pilgrim has 42 years old and Croatian nationality. Measures approximately 1.80 meters, is from strong build, has receding brown hair y gray brown beard.
When he disappeared he was wearing shorts, white or green t-shirt and gradient blue sneakers.
The Civil Guard has deployed Citizen Security patrols and is reinforcing the operation with other specialized troops.
🙏 THE PATH CAN HELP
In a disappearance like this, any small detail can be important.
From Camino de Santiago RTV We especially appeal to those who walked along the stretch yesterday, Saturday. Astorga–Foncebadón–Cruz de Ferro, as well as hospital workers, managers of hostels, bars, restaurants, taxi drivers and residents of the area.
Review photographs and videos taken during the stage. Sometimes a person can accidentally appear in the background of an image and provide a clue as to where and when they were seen.
If anyone believes they have seen it or has relevant information, You should not initiate searches on your own in dangerous areas: you must immediately notify the Civil Guard through official emergency channels.

📢 SHARING IS ALSO HELPING
Today we are not looking for visits or headlines.

If you are doing the Camino Francés, if yesterday you passed through Astorga, Rabanal del Camino, Foncebadón or Cruz de Ferro, or know someone who was there, share this information.
A photograph. A memory. Having coincided having a coffee. Having seen him walking.
Any information can help.
From Camino de Santiago RTV we hope that the device allows you to locate it as soon as possible and that this story ends with the news that we all want to publish:
