He 42-year-old Croatian pilgrim who disappeared while walking the Camino de Santiago has been located safe and sound this Sunday, August 9.

A Civil Guard patrol from the Villafranca del Bierzo post found him around 3:35 p.m. on a public road in Pereje, a town belonging to the León municipality of Trabadelo. And, above all, the best news: was in good health.

After the concern of his family, the device deployed and so many people waiting for any news, we can say it very loudly:

From worry to joy

The alarm had started on Saturday.

His wife reported his disappearance after the family stopped hearing from the pilgrim during the morning. The man had planned to complete the stage between Astorga and the Cruz de Ferro, in Foncebadón, but contact with him was lost and a search device was activated in which Citizen Security patrols of the Civil Guard participated.

Uncertainty grew rapidly.

On the Camino, where thousands of people travel daily between towns, mountains and rural areas, a disappearance immediately causes concern.

But this time the story ends the way we all wanted.

They found it much later

And there is one detail that draws special attention.

The pilgrim appeared in Pereje, in the heart of Bierzo, more than 60 kilometers from Foncebadón.

That is to say, while family and authorities were trying to locate him, the man had advanced considerably along the Camino.

Finally, a patrol from Villafranca del Bierzo found him on a public road and was able to confirm that he was fine, putting an end to the search effort.
