Beatriz, 68 years old, Pilgrim from Santiago de Compostela to Rome in Search of the Jubilee Year

Currently in the south of France, Beatriz hopes to travel almost 2,600 kilometers to cross the Holy Door before autumn.

Beatriz, a 68-year-old pilgrim, is immersed in an extraordinary journey on foot from Santiago de Compostela to Rome, a challenge of almost 2,600 kilometers that she hopes to complete before the arrival of autumn. Its main motivation is the celebration of Jubilee Year 2025, an event that occurs every 25 years.

"All the Major Basilicas have their holy doors open, I want to earn the indulgence," Beatriz shared in Ecclesia a Día. For her, this pilgrimage is not only a physical journey, but also a deep spiritual experience. She feels like a "pilgrim of hope", carrying with her the long-awaited hope of the world and following the example of great saints who also made pilgrimages on foot to sacred places.

Walking Towards Light and Contemplation

Every day, Beatriz wakes up before dawn, a habit that allows her a deeper connection with her journey. "I leave at dawn, and walk towards the east," he explains. For her, each sunrise is a reminder that she is moving "towards light, silence, peace." The physical effort of the road, combined with the distant sound of church bells, transports her to "another dimension."

During these days of introspection, moments of prayer and contemplation are essential for Beatriz. "I am praying the rosary, and in the memory of so many people that I carry in my heart and their intentions," he says, feeling a deep connection with the divine.

Beatriz is aware that returning to everyday life will be a challenge. "The journey is experienced in a more transcendental way, and it is not easy to return to an environment of haste and consumerism," he reflects, hoping to integrate the serenity of his pilgrimage into his future routine.
