This past Sunday, the fourth pilgrimage to Santiago along the Camino del Mar (concello by concello) began in Ribadeo, organized and promoted by the Camino del Mar Association with the aim of disseminating and making known the route of this Camino de Santiago as it passes through the town halls of the regions of A Mariña, Ortegal and Ferrolterra.

In this first stage a group of 25 pilgrims began; It ran from Ribadeo to Barreiros, in Cruz do Lobo, having covered 24 kilometers. The starting point was the City Council of Ribadeo, where the credentials were stamped by the City Council of Ribadeo and ACISA. Joining the reception of the group of pilgrims were: Carmen Cruzado (president of ACISA), Marta Saiz (Tourism Councilor of Ribadeo) and Daniel Vega (mayor of Ribadeo), who welcomed the group of pilgrims to Ribadeo.x 20250303 181318000

«We want to publicly convey our gratitude for the collaboration provided by the Ribadeo city council, represented by its mayor, Daniel Vega and its tourism councilor, Marta Saiz, and also to ACISA, represented by Carmen Cruzado. Since they have always shown their collaboration in the commitment to highlight the Camino del Mar, the Camino de Santiago that crosses Ribadeo, making Ribadeo one of the few municipalities with two Caminos de Santiago in Galicia," says Manuel Vicente.

The promoter of the Camino del Mar advances: «The group of pilgrims of this edition covers more territory, they are not all from the Mariña Lucense, there are people from Castropol, Narón, Betanzos and Ames. The next stage will be this coming Sunday, 03/09/25. A stage that runs through the town hall of Barreiros, where we finished, and through that of Foz, the place where the stage ends, in the church of Santiago de Fazouro. It will have a route of about 19 kilometers. For this stage we have the collaboration of the City Council of Foz. The group will be received at the Basilica of San Martiño by the mayor of Foz, Fran Cajoto, and his Councilor for Tourism, Kathy Navarro.

"While we carry out the Camino we are reinforcing the signage to facilitate the transit of pilgrims and prevent them from getting lost," says Manuel Vicente.
