The meeting seeks to bring young people closer to the human values of the Camino de Santiago
The Pilgrims for Cantabria association is already preparing a new edition of the “Camino Joven 2026” conference, a meeting that will once again turn the Güemes hostel into one of the great youth meeting points linked to the Camino de Santiago in Cantabria. The initiative aims to bring the pilgrimage experience closer to new generations from a human, cultural and participatory vision.
The conference will bring together young people from different parts of Spain to share coexistence, cultural activities, walks and experiences related to the traditional values of the Camino de Santiago: hospitality, camaraderie, personal improvement and connection with nature.
Güemes will once again be one of the youth epicenters of the Camino del Norte
The event will take place in the surroundings of the historic Güemes hostel, one of the most emblematic places on the Camino del Norte as it passes through Cantabria and an international reference for thousands of pilgrims.
According to the programming advanced by the association, the activities will combine walking stages, creative workshops, cultural meetings, music, spaces for youth debate and moments of coexistence around the Jacobean spirit. The organization wants young people themselves to have a leading role both in participating and creating activities.
In addition to the recreational component, Camino Joven 2026 seeks to transmit to new generations the heritage and cultural value of the Caminos de Santiago, especially the Caminos del Norte and the Camino Lebaniego, two of the great historical routes in northern Spain.

A project that unites Camino, youth and transformative experiences
Youth coexistence has become one of the most innovative projects promoted from Cantabria around the Camino de Santiago. The initiative aims to create community among young pilgrims using the Camino as a tool for personal transformation, coexistence and collective learning.
During the days there will also be spaces for creativity, cultural exchange and reflection on the future of the Camino de Santiago and the role that new generations can play in the conservation and dissemination of this universal heritage.
