More and more pilgrims choose the Camino Primitivo even in winter. Although traditionally in the cold months there used to be hardly any pilgrims, this trend is changing in recent years. The proof is that, according to data from the Pilgrim's Office, the number of people who reached the jubilee until March 25 on the route that connects Oviedo with Santiago de Compostela was 680, 23% more than last year.
These numbers, although not very high, are a record for the weakest season of the year. This circumstance means that the forecasts for spring and summer are also very positive. To date, the vast majority (400) of the pilgrims on the original route were Spanish, while the remaining 280 arrived from fifty countries from different parts of the world.
The people who completed the complete route (starting from Oviedo) in this period were 303, while 277 began their march from Lugo and the rest chose intermediate points such as Grado, Grandas de Salime or El Escamplero as their starting point.
