From Finisterre to Jerusalem: the longest Peace Walk in the world begins
From the Atlantic end of Galicia, where for centuries pilgrims believed the known land ended, a project is now born that looks far beyond the horizon. In Finisterre The call has officially started Walk for Peace, an international initiative that aspires to become the longest signposted path in the world, with a destination as symbolic as it is universal: Jerusalem.
This new itinerary is not only a physical route of thousands of kilometers, but a proposal full of meaning in a historical moment marked by conflicts, divisions and cultural tensions. The Path for Peace proposes something as simple as it is revolutionary: walking to unite, moving forward to dialogue and meeting to understand.
A path that connects cultures, religions and people
The project is conceived as a large transversal route that will cross different countries in Europe and the Middle East, linking historical paths, traditional pilgrimage routes and new sections created specifically for this route. Far from being a closed route, the Camino por la Paz is defined as a living path, open to contributions from associations, municipalities, cultural groups and pilgrims from all over the world.
Each stage aims to become a space for intercultural encounter, where shared walking serves as a starting point for dialogue between people of different beliefs, origins and ways of understanding the world. It is not about erasing differences, but about learning to live with them with mutual respect.

The Jacobean spirit as a starting point
That the beginning is in Finisterre is no coincidence. This place, the traditional symbolic end of the Camino de Santiago, represents the closing of one cycle and the beginning of another. For generations, thousands of pilgrims have come here seeking answers, reflection or simply the silence of the ocean. Now, that pilgrim spirit is projected into a global dimension.
The Camino por la Paz includes the essential values of the Camino de Santiago: hospitality, shared effort, introspection and community. Values that today take on a new dimension when applied to an international journey with a future vocation.
Walking as a message in difficult times
In an accelerated and fragmented world, this initiative reminds us that big changes begin step by step. The Path for Peace does not promise immediate solutions, but it does promise a clear message: walking together remains one of the most powerful ways to bring people together.
The first step has already been taken in Finisterre. The rest of the path, as always happens in great pilgrimages, will be built with each footprint.
