La Huella en Corto closes on November 14
The Camino de Santiago seeks new stories for the big screen. The second edition of «The Footprint in Short», the audiovisual contest promoted by Pilgrims for Cantabria, keeps the reception of works open until next November 14. Participants will be eligible for three financial prizes totaling 3,000 euros.
Not all great stories need a two-hour movie. Sometimes a few minutes are enough to show a gesture of hospitality, an unexpected friendship or the excitement of someone who discovers that the Camino de Santiago can change their way of understanding life.
With this philosophy, “La Huella en Corto” returns, the short film festival that invites filmmakers, pilgrims and audiovisual creators to tell their own stories about the Jacobean pilgrimage.
The initiative, organized by the Pilgrims for Cantabria association with the collaboration of the Camargo City Council, celebrates its second edition after a first call that brought together twelve short films.
Now, the contest is in the final stretch of its registration period.

Until November 14 to present the works
The deadline for receiving works began on October 20 and will remain open until November 14, 2026.
People of legal age may participate, with a single original short film per author. The works must have a minimum duration of three minutes and a maximum of six, including credits.
The call admits works of fiction, documentary and animation, as long as there is a relevant relationship with the Camino de Santiago, whether through its protagonists, its settings, its history or its values.
Short films in other languages may also be submitted, as long as they incorporate Spanish subtitles when necessary.
Three prizes totaling 3,000 euros
The contest establishes three financial awards for the best works:
- First prize: 1,500 euros.
- Second prize: 1,000 euros.
- Third prize: 500 euros.
But the proposal goes far beyond economic recognition.
The objective is to give visibility to new ways of narrating the pilgrimage and bringing to the public the experiences of those who walk, welcome and keep Jacobean traditions alive.
The jury will assess the cinematographic quality, originality, the relevance of the themes and the ability to transmit emotions.

Hospitality deserves a movie too
One of the most interesting aspects of “La Huella en Corto” is the creative freedom of its participants.
The Camino can become the setting for a fictional story, a documentary about the life of a hospital worker or an animated film inspired by the values of pilgrimage.
You don't have to travel hundreds of miles to find a good story. It can be in a small shelter, in the conversation between two strangers, in a family promise or in the solidarity that appears when a pilgrim needs it most.
It is precisely this human heritage, so often invisible, that turns the Camino de Santiago into an inexhaustible source of stories.
The festival will pay special attention to those works related to the Camino de Santiago in Cantabria and the Camino Lebaniego, two itineraries closely linked to the history and identity of the community.
La Vidriera will host the awards ceremony
After registration closes, the accepted works will enter the public exhibition phase, scheduled from November 15 until the final gala.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 9, 2026 at the La Vidriera Cultural Center, in Camargo.
The event aims to consolidate itself as a meeting between cinema, audiovisual creators and people who work to keep alive the cultural, heritage and human values of the Camino.

How to participate in La Huella en Corto 2026
Interested persons must complete the registration documentation established in the contest rules and present their short film following the instructions of the organization.
The works must be delivered in MP4 digital format, with H.265/HEVC encoding, 16:9 ratio and minimum HD resolution.
Before submitting the work, it is advisable to carefully review the conditions of participation, the technical requirements and the requested documentation.

A small story can leave a big mark
The Camino de Santiago has been inspiring stories, books, paintings, photographs and films for centuries. Each generation finds a different way of telling what happens between one stage and the next.
“La Huella en Corto” now offers an opportunity to transform those experiences into images and share them with the public.
Perhaps the next unforgettable story of the Camino will not be born from a great film production, but from a camera, a good idea and six minutes capable of moving.
The deadline ends on November 14. El Camino still has many stories to tell.
