The Provincial Council Promotes the Camino de Santiago as a Family: 50 Places for the Portuguese Route
The popular Camino de Santiago continues to be a preferred vacation option, and this September, 50 residents of the province will have the opportunity to live the experience as a family, covering the Portuguese Camino from Pontevedra.
The bargain of doing the Camino de Santiago with the Provincial Council: The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela has experienced a notable resurgence in the last three decades, establishing itself as one of the favorite vacation options among Spaniards. Every year, hundreds of thousands of people, both national and foreign, complete at least 100 kilometers of the Camino to obtain the coveted Compostela, driven by various motivations ranging from religious devotion to self-knowledge or the simple desire for adventure.

In order to facilitate this experience, the Provincial Council has launched the second edition of its “Camino de Santiago en Familia” program, offering 50 places so that parents and children (from 10 years old) can immerse themselves in this adventure. Interested parties have until July 23 to submit your application.
The program will be developed in Portuguese Way of the September 1 to 6, a total of six days and five nights. The group will stay in the province of Pontevedra, on a half-board basis, with two meals included during the stages. Strategically selected hotels in To Guarda (the first two nights) and Census (the last three nights) seek to minimize post-stage travel, ensuring a better rest for pilgrims.
During the 24 hours, participants will have the constant accompaniment of a monitor team, guaranteeing security and necessary support. The cost for participants is only 80 euros per place, a very affordable price thanks to the investment of the Provincial Council, which has budgeted 33,750 euros for this initiative (27,750 euros for accommodation and activities, and 6,000 euros for transportation).
This proposal seeks to bring the magic of the Camino de Santiago to families, allowing them to share an experience of effort, coexistence and discovery in one of the most emblematic destinations in Spain.
