Pilgrims through Cantabria opens today, October 20, the deadline to participate in the II La Huella en Corto Short Film Festival. Until November 14, creators will be able to present their stories and share their perspective on the Camino de Santiago.
El Camino is full of stories that deserve to reach the screen. Some are born from a conversation between strangers; others, a gesture of hospitality, an unexpected friendship or an experience that changes the way we look at the world.
To give space to those looks, Pilgrims through Cantabria promotes a new edition of La Huella en Corto, an initiative that unites audiovisual creation and Jacobean culture. Starting today, the association invites creators to transform the Camino into cinema and share what makes it a unique human experience.
Pilgrims through Cantabria bring the Camino to the screen
With this festival, Pilgrims for Cantabria proposes approaching the pilgrimage from its protagonists, its landscapes and its values. An opportunity to look beyond the route and stop at what happens while we walk.
The contest opens a window to those who find in the audiovisual a way to tell the Camino: from the emotion of an arrival to the work of those who host, passing through the memories, difficulties and encounters that accompany each stage.
The initiative also allows us to bring this universe closer to people who have not yet made the pilgrimage. Because a well-told story can arouse curiosity, invite reflection or help you understand why a trip on foot leaves such deep memories.

Pilgrims through Cantabria invite you to participate and spread the call, so that new voices and new stories find their place in this second edition.
Little stories that can leave a big mark
It is not necessary to tell an entire Camino to convey what it means. Sometimes an everyday scene contains an entire story.
A chair that someone brings to a table. A backpack that another person helps carry. A farewell that costs more than expected. A hospitalero who listens when fatigue outweighs the kilometers.
There is also room for smiles: the preparations that do not go as we imagined, the anecdotes of coexistence or those situations that we only fully understand after having walked.
The creative challenge is to find your own perspective. Choose what we want to tell and how to get the viewer closer to the characters, get excited about them or recognize something from their own experience.
A call for different ways of counting
The Short Footprint admits fiction, animation and documentary, with the Camino de Santiago and the Jacobean pilgrimage as relevant elements of the works.
The work must last between 3 and 6 minutes, including credits. People of legal age may participate, with only one work per author.
The festival will pay special attention to the relationship of the proposals with the Camino de Santiago in Cantabria and the Camino Lebaniego.
Registration open from today
The term begins today, October 20, and ends on November 14, 2026.
To submit a short film, you must complete the registration form and follow the delivery instructions of the call, which include the presentation template and sending a download link for the work.
CONSULT THE RULES AND DOCUMENTATION
Before sending, it is advisable to read the complete bases and check that both the file and the documentation are prepared.
The Camino is also shared by making films
This call is an invitation to recover that idea that was written down in a notebook, finish a pending assembly or give shape to an experience that is still present.
Maybe your story is about a person you met during a time. Maybe in the one who opened a door for you. Or in a memory that, with the passage of time, has acquired a different meaning.
Pilgrims through Cantabria launches this space to share those views. Now comes the turn of those who have something to tell.
Prepare your short, participate and help the call reach more creators. From today until November 14, your story can be part of La Huella en Corto 2026.
