Toledo promotes a family Camino de Santiago by 2026
The Toledo Provincial Council has launched a special program so that families in the province can live the experience of Camino de Santiago with family during 2026, an initiative that combines coexistence, outdoor sports and cultural tourism.
This is a project promoted by the Social Welfare, Family and Youth area that aims to bring this emblematic Jacobean route closer to family units, promoting shared time and bonds between parents and children while traveling part of the Portuguese Way in a format adapted for all ages.
An experience designed for everyone
The program is designed for families with children from 10 years old and will have limited places, which allows personalized support throughout the stages. The scheduled activities include not only the daily walk, but also moments of rest, group dynamics, cultural activities and workshops that enrich the experience beyond the physical aspect.
The chosen route will cover part of the Portuguese Way, combining sections on foot with organized trips. Accommodation in hotels, meals included and support from monitors and guides throughout the journey are also planned, which provides security and dynamism to the participating group.
Coexistence and values
Those responsible for the project emphasize that this proposal is not only a sporting or tourist activity, but a tool to strengthen values such as cooperation, self-improvement and connection with nature and history. For many participating families, it will be the first time they undertake an adventure of this type together, and the expectation is that those memories will last beyond the duration of the program.

Furthermore, the format designed to make the stages affordable and accessible seeks to guarantee that families can complete the route enjoying, without rushing, each section, each stop and each conversation shared on the banks of the roads that lead to Santiago de Compostela.
Registration and expectations
Although places are limited, high demand is expected among the residents of Toledo and its surroundings, given the success of previous editions of this type of Family Camino. The Provincial Council is already working on disseminating the program and opening registration so that interested families can ensure their participation as soon as possible.
This initiative reflects a continuous commitment by local authorities to activities that promote well-being, active leisure and social cohesion, while at the same time highlighting one of the most emblematic routes of the cultural and natural heritage of Spain: the Camino de Santiago.
