There are goodbyes that hurt in silence, as if the world turned down the volume for a moment. Today the entire Camino feels that pause. Tomás, the soul of Manjarín, is no longer among us... and yet, his presence remains alive in every stone, in every step, in every pilgrim who ever found refuge in his gaze.
Tomás did not give hospitality.
Thomas was hospitality.
His warm voice in the middle of the wind, his flag waving like a lighthouse, his way of listening without haste... all of this turned Manjarín into something more than a place: it turned it into a hug for those who arrived broken with fatigue and full of doubts.
There are those who say that on the Camino an angel always walks next to the pilgrim.
We were lucky enough to know him by name.
I hope up there I find the same warmth that he gave down here.
I hope he takes care of us from heaven as he took care of everyone who passed through his door.
May his spirit continue to accompany the Camino, teaching us that true greatness is not in making noise, but in doing good.
Thanks, Tomas.
For your light.
For your faith.
For your kindness.
For teaching us that the Camino is traveled with the heart.
Today we say goodbye to you, but you are not leaving.
You stay in us.
You stay on the Camino.
You stay where you always were eternal.
Good way to the light, brother.
