Conferences in Zamora to Revitalize Five Historic Paths of Santiago
ZAMORA. – The Zamorana Association has launched an ambitious plan to stop the decline of the Jacobean routes that cross the province. To this end, it has called for days of reflection and revitalization that the days will be celebrated October 25 and 26 in different enclaves of the city.
The main objective of this initiative is reverse the low influx who experience some of the tours and promote their immense cultural, heritage and tourist value. Zamora is a key point in the Jacobean network, since it is crossed by five historical and traditional paths: the Vía de la Plata, the Camino Sanabrés, the Camino de Levante, the Camino del Sureste and the Camino Zamorano-Portugués.

The Challenge of the Low Flow of Pilgrims
Despite having this wealth of routes, data from the Santiago de Compostela Pilgrim Office point out a worrying inequality in their use.
The Silver Way and the Sanabrés Road They concentrate the vast majority of the flow. However, the other three itineraries record figures very reduced, adding just a few 4,500 pilgrims annually that cross the province.
The Association seeks that these days serve as a starting point for administrations, associations and neighbors to work together to promote and maintain less traveled routes. The revitalization of these roads is seen as a vital opportunity for rural development and the enhancement of Zamorano heritage.
