A meeting to promote the Camino in Catalonia
Santa Coloma de Gramenet has hosted a meeting dedicated to the Camino de Santiago that has brought together associations, pilgrims and entities linked to the Jacobean world. The day, organized by Galician groups and Camino associations, has served to analyze the present and future of the routes that start from or cross Catalonia.
During the meeting, the importance of continuing to strengthen the Camino in the Barcelona area was highlighted, both in signage and dissemination and in support for pilgrims who begin their route in this area.

The growth of the Camino from Catalonia
Every year the number of people who start the Camino de Santiago from different points in Catalonia increases. Although many pilgrims travel to traditional places such as Sarria, Tui or Roncesvalles, more and more people decide to start from home, connecting with the historical routes that connect with the French Way.
The participants in the meeting highlighted that these routes still need more visibility and institutional support to consolidate and be better known.
Associations and pilgrims, the engine of the Camino
One of the aspects that was highlighted during the day was the fundamental role of the Camino de Santiago associations. They are the ones who maintain signposted sections, organize activities, help pilgrims and spread Jacobean culture in places where the Camino is not always as visible as in Galicia or Castilla y León.
Thanks to this work, many walkers discover that the Camino does not begin at a specific point, but at their doorstep.
Looking to the future
The meeting also served to share experiences and strengthen collaboration between entities. The common objective is to continue improving the routes, attract new pilgrims and keep the spirit of the Camino alive in territories where it is still growing.
The conclusion was clear: the Camino de Santiago continues to expand, and Catalonia wants to continue being an active part of that history.
