Seven young people leave their cell phones to walk the Camino

Disconnect to reconnect: the experience that is causing people to talk

Seven young people have decided to do something that today sounds almost impossible: put down their cell phone, forget about money... and start doing the Camino de Santiago.

Without digital maps, without social networks and without the convenience of paying for each stop, they have begun an experience that goes far beyond walking. For several days they will walk the Camino as it was done before: asking questions, trusting people and resolving each situation as they go.

And yes... it's hard at first.

The first day: awkward silence

Those who have experienced something similar know it. When the cell phone disappears, silence appears. That rare moment when no one looks at a screen... but doesn't really know what to say either.

But little by little it changes.

The real conversations begin. The laughs. The stories. And that moment when you realize that you don't need to be online all the time.

Without money: trust or wake up

Another challenge is not carrying money. Nothing.

That means:

  • ask for help
  • share
  • look for solutions
  • trust strangers

And there the Camino once again does what it knows best: bringing out the best in people.

Because in a few hours, what seemed impossible begins to work. People appear to help, offering food, directions or simply a conversation.

The Path changes when there is no screen

Without a cell phone, everything is different.

  • the landscape looks more
  • the stages feel longer… but also more intense
  • relationships are more real

And the most curious thing: time seems to go slower.

Many pilgrims say it after doing the Camino: the difficult thing is not walking... it's stopping.

What they take (and it is not material)

At the end of the experience, these young people do not leave with perfect photos or stories for networks. They take something that cannot be uploaded to the internet:

  • self-confidence
  • security to face situations
  • real memories
  • human connections

And above all, a question that remains hanging around:

👉 “do we really need to always be connected?”

The real challenge begins when you return

Because the complicated thing is not doing the Camino without a cell phone...
The difficult thing is to return home and not get hooked again.

That's where the real change begins.

An experience that connects with something real

At a time when everything is moving fast, these types of initiatives are attracting attention. Not because it is extreme, but because it is simple.

Walk, talk, live together... without distractions.

And it is that he Camino de Santiago It continues to show that there is no need to invent anything new.

Sometimes, what we need most...
It's back to basics.
