A simple actuació de l'hospitalitat a La Rioja shows el true spirit del Camí de Sant Jaume

A group of primary school students in Logronyo, in Spain's La Rioja region, has reminded pilgrims from around the world what the Camí de Sant Jaume is really about: kindness, human connection and hospitality.

Pupils from the sixth grade at CEIP Varia stepped outside their classroom to welcome walkers arribant in the city along the French Way. Accompanied by their English teacher and tutor, the children used the opportunity to practice their language skills in real-life conversations with pilgrims from different countries.

But this was much more than an English lesson.

Bread, Olive Oil i Warm Welcome

Els estudiants guanyen les pilgrims per a un simplest i most mostren gestures de Spanish hospitality: fresh bread and olive oil, offering visitors a small taste of local tradition after many kilometres on foot.

Per a molts pilgrims, unexpected welcome became one of those unforgettable Camí moments que és impossible a pla. Beyond the monuments, landscapes and historic routes, it is often these spontaneous encounters that leave the deepest impression.

Les activitats també afavoreixen les persones per llegir sobre diferents cultures i oficis personals de les persones amb un altre món del món most famous pilgrimages. In doing so, the young students became true ambassadors for their city, demonstrating curiosity, generosity and openness towards those passing through Logronyo on their journey to Santiago de Compostel·la.

Logronyo has long been one of the most important stops on the Camí Francès, welcoming thousands of pilgrims every year. La ciutat és anomenada no només per a l'històric centre i gastronomia, però també per a warmth with which locals embrace el spirit del camí.

Com a camí continues per atraure companys de tots els corners de la globus el 2026, stories like this servies a powerful reminder that pilgrimage és no només sobre reaching a destination. It is also sobre the people encountered along the way.

Sottimes, all it takes és a smile, few words in another language i a peu de chread dipped in olive oil to make a stranger feel at home.
