Corrosco: A Gastronomic Oasis on the Camino de Santiago de la Rúa de San Pedro
Santiago de Compostela. In the heart of the San Pedro neighborhood, one of the vibrant and lively arteries that welcome thousands of pilgrims on their arrival in the Galician capital, a gastronomic gem is hidden: Corrosco. This small and charming place, located at Rúa de San Pedro, 11, has been discovered as an oasis of flavor and authenticity for those looking for a different culinary experience after their day on the Camino.
Corrosco is the dream come true of Pepa Fuertes Carballeira, an entrepreneur who, with her unwavering smile, serves each client. Their vision: elevate the humble sandwich into a work of art, using quality products and daring combinations. The name, "Corrosco", honors that crunchy and delicious part of the bread, a nod to the importance of good product.
Snacks with Soul and Character

Forget the classic ham and cheese. At Corrosco, the letter is a declaration of intent. From their acclaimed sandwich beer-battered hake —which has become his hallmark— to the public's favorite, the squid with special frying, sriracha lemon sauce and pickled cucumber, Pepa is committed to unique flavors that were not always easy to introduce. "At first the menu was much rarer and it was difficult to sell it," he admits, remembering customers who were looking for a simple mixed drink.
For Pepa, Corrosco is a place to “try different things,” and her obsession with the sourdough bread from Sallaz Bakery in Negreira, which does not overshadow the flavors of the filling, is a testament to her commitment to quality.
Authenticity and Emotion in Every Bite
Corrosco not only stands out for its gastronomic proposal, but also for Pepa's passion and authenticity. She strives to use local product, but without "posturing", being honest about the need for some external ingredients.
In this almost three-year adventure, Pepa has experienced difficult moments, such as problems opening the store, and great satisfaction, such as her mother's pride in her sandwiches.
But behind every sandwich, there is a personal and emotional story. Pepa confesses that, if she could invite someone, it would be her sister Sandra, who died two years ago. «I would give her the squid sandwich, which I took out after she died, to see what she thinks. “I miss her so much,” he shares with a broken voice. The flowers that adorn Corrosco were a gift from Sandra on the opening day, a symbol of her unconditional support.
For pilgrims arriving in Santiago, or for Compostela residents and visitors looking for a culinary experience with character, Corrosco is presented as a mandatory stop. A place where passion, authenticity and snacks tell an unforgettable story, offering a unique flavor at the end of a long journey.
