The Association of Businessmen of the Camino de Santiago to Fisterra-Muxía (Solpor) will drive the project The last travelers, an initiative that aims to value the experience of pilgrims who decide to extend their route beyond Compostela to reach the finisterrae, reinforcing the singularity of destiny and giving greater visibility to the businessmen who make this final reception possible.
Jesus Picallo, president of the entity, assures that they seek "deseasonalize" the Camino through "promotions to attract more walkers in the months of January to April and from October to December, so that they can also enjoy our gastronomy and everything that this Jacobean route offers." To do this, he adds, "we are outlining the actions in collaboration with Turgalicia».
Picallo highlights that "the Camiño do Solpor is very more than a route. It is a feeling that unites tradition, landscape, hospitality and professionalism. This association is the voice of those who build memorable experiences every day, from rural areas, with effort and authenticity.
The business group, made up of 132 partners, also addressed in its general assembly the problems that most concern the sector, such as the lack of coordination in the taxi service, inadequate bus parking at sensitive points along the route and unfair competition derived from unregistered tourist homes. They also agreed on the need to continue improving signage, digitization of destination, the professionalization of the sector and the control of tourism quality.
The assembly also saw the replacement of the entity's secretary, a position assumed by Amelia Garcia, replacing Águeda María. The rest of the board, chaired by Jesús Picallo, is completed by José Antonio González, vice president; Alexia Benlloch, treasurer; Antonio Loncho, José María López, Caetana Varela, Elena Maceiras and Julio Mateo as members; and Begoña Varela, association technician.
