The Camino de Brochero, a new pilgrimage route

The Camino de Brochero promotes a new pilgrimage route between three cities and 15 circuits in Córdoba

The province of Córdoba continues to focus on religious and cultural tourism with the development of Brochero Road, a pilgrimage route that connects three emblematic cities and articulates 15 thematic circuits linked to the life and work of the first Argentine saint, José Gabriel del Rosario Brochero.

This route, of approximately 240 kilometers, connect Villa Santa Rosa de Río Primero, birthplace of the saint; the city of cordoba, where he trained as a priest; and Villa Cura Brochero, where he developed much of his pastoral and social work. The route reproduces the paths that Brochero himself traveled on muleback to reach the most isolated towns in the mountains, bringing spiritual assistance, education and material help.

The project seeks to become a comprehensive experience that combines faith, nature, history and culture, offering walkers the possibility of visiting towns, historic chapels, mountain landscapes and sites loaded with spiritual meaning. Throughout the journey, visitors can delve into the values that marked the life of Cura Brochero: social commitment, closeness to the most humble and perseverance in the face of difficulties.

The 15 internal circuits They allow the route to be organized into sections that are accessible and adaptable to different profiles of pilgrims and travelers. Some are designed for short walks, others for bicycle or vehicle tours, and all share a common thread: reliving the path of the Cordoban saint and his human and spiritual legacy.

In addition to its religious dimension, the Camino de Brochero represents an opportunity for the development of local communities. The route promotes the growth of rural tourism, the opening of accommodation, regional gastronomy and services for pilgrims, generating a positive impact in small towns in the provincial interior.

The layout not only invites you to walk, but also to stop. Each town and each section proposes spaces for reflection, rest and encounter, reinforcing the idea of the path as a transformative experience, beyond the final destination. In that sense, it is presented as a South American alternative to the great pilgrimage routes of the world, adapted to the cultural and geographical identity of Córdoba.

With this initiative, the province consolidates a tourism product that unites spirituality and territory, and that aspires to position itself as a reference for religious tourism in Argentina. The Camino de Brochero is not just a physical route: it is an itinerary of memory, faith and landscape that recovers the figure of a saint close to the town and deeply linked to mountain history
