The Camino del Mar returns in its V edition with a pilgrimage that connects Ribadeo and Santiago de Compostela
The Camino del Mar returns this year with its fifth edition, consolidating itself as one of the most unique initiatives on the Jacobean map. This pilgrimage, organized by the Camino del Mar Friends Association, proposes traveling the old coastal route that connects Ribadeo with Santiago de Compostela through Sunday stages that advance from town to town, promoting the spirit of coexistence, cultural dissemination and knowledge of the territory. The project seeks to recover and give visibility to a historical route linked to the sea and the ancient pilgrimage routes, offering participants an experience that combines sport, heritage and nature.

The departure is scheduled from Ribadeo and the arrival will take place in the Plaza del Obradoiro after thirteen stages that cross Mariña Lucense, Ortegal and Ferrolterra, until connecting with the traditional route towards Santiago. Each day is conceived as a meeting point between neighbors, associations and pilgrims, reinforcing the role of the councils as hosts of a route that wants to grow without losing its human and participatory character. The organization will deliver an official credential that will be stamped in each municipality at the beginning and end of each stage, allowing walkers to opt for the Compostela once they reach the Galician capital.
In addition to its spiritual and sporting dimension, the Camino del Mar is proposed as a tool for local revitalization, promoting commerce, hospitality and social activity in the municipalities through which it runs. The support of the town councils and the associative fabric has been key to consolidating this project that year after year adds new participants attracted by the beauty of the northern coast and the opportunity to travel an alternative path full of history and symbolism. The organization reminds that places are limited and that all those registered will receive a commemorative t-shirt as a souvenir of this edition.
