Fright for pilgrims in Lalín: With the arrival of spring, in addition to the flowers, the pilgrims who cross Deza to reach Compostela also sprout. Like so many others, a group of Canadian hikers went to Lalín to spend the night and continue the route the next day, however, a problem with their accommodation reservation made them fear the worst: a scam.
Accompanied by a neighbor from Lalín who acted as an interpreter, they first went to the City Council to check if the stay they had reserved really existed. Not agreeing with any of them, they decided to go to the Civil Guard headquarters to file a complaint against what seemed like a scam.
However, once there they discovered that everything was due to a telephone error, and they were finally able to rest in their accommodation in the capital of Dezana.
Municipal aid
Faced with the possibility that they would be scammed and the resulting damage to Lalín's reputation as accommodation for pilgrims doing the Camino de Santiago, the mayor, José Crespo, went to the barracks to provide the necessary help to the visitors, even considering the option of offering them free accommodation in a business in the town center.
Fortunately, everything ended in a scare, but the deployment of the City Council to help them and the selfless help of a woman from Lalín ended up leaving this group of Canadian pilgrims with a pleasant memory of their time in Lalín, showing their gratitude for the treatment they received.
