Galician humor and the stories of the Camino de Santiago come together this Saturday, October 3, in Castroverde with the show “Enredadas no Camiño”, starring Leti da Taberna. The proposal will be free and will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Paco Pestana Sociocultural Center.
The Camino de Santiago also has room for laughter.
Castroverde, one of the towns linked to the Camino Primitivo in the province of Lugo, will host a different proposal this Saturday: a comedy show focused on the stories, experiences and situations that surround the pilgrimage.
The protagonist will be Leti da Taberna, Galician creator and comedian known for a way of telling stories closely linked to retranca, Galician identity and everyday scenes.
His show, titled “Tangled on the Road”, will seek to approach the pilgrim universe from a more casual perspective.
The Camino told with humor
Not everything on the Camino is kilometers, heritage, blisters or stages.
There are also impossible conversations, unexpected encounters, unforgettable characters and situations that only those who have ever shared a table, a shelter or a walk with strangers understand.
That more human and spontaneous side is precisely one of the areas where humor works best.
“Enredadas no Camiño” is based on experiences and reflections related to the Camino de Santiago and transforms them into a stage proposal where comedy and Galician identity have a special weight.
The idea is especially attractive because it addresses the Jacobean phenomenon from an unusual point of view.
In front of conferences, exhibitions or heritage activities, here the Camino becomes raw material to laugh at ourselves.
Castroverde, scene of the Primitive Way
Castroverde's choice is not coincidental from the Jacobean point of view either.
The town is part of the Camino Primitivo, one of the historical routes to Santiago de Compostela.
Those who follow this itinerary cross the municipality before continuing towards Lugo, after having overcome some of the most demanding sections of the route.
Castroverde is also a town with a strong presence of heritage and rural identity, elements that fit very well with a proposal like Leti da Taberna.
The show will be held at the Paco Pestana Sociocultural Center, a space that will welcome the public from 7:00 p.m.
Admission will be free.
The retranca is also part of the Camino
There is a part of the Camino de Santiago that rarely appears in guides.
It is the one of the little anecdotes.
The pilgrim who leaves too quickly and after ten minutes is already asking how much time is left.
The backpack prepared “just in case” that ends up weighing more than ten kilos.
The discussion about which is the best Camino.
The one who assures that he will never return and six months later he is already planning the next route.
Or who enters a hostel as a stranger and ends up having dinner with people from four different countries.
All of this also builds the Camino.
And precisely for this reason, using humor to talk about the pilgrimage can be a different way of approaching its reality.
Jacobean culture beyond the traditional
The Camino de Santiago has generated literature, music, painting and all kinds of cultural expressions for centuries.
In recent years it has also become a stage for new formats: documentaries, podcasts, social networks, theater and comedy shows.
These proposals allow us to reach different audiences and demonstrate that Jacobean culture can evolve without losing its identity.
A show like “Enredadas no Camiño” fits precisely into that idea.
The Camino continues to be heritage, history and spirituality.
But it is also coexistence.
And where there is coexistence, situations inevitably appear that deserve a smile.
A different afternoon for pilgrims and neighbors
The performance is aimed at both those who know the Camino and those who simply want to enjoy an afternoon of humor.
For pilgrims who are traveling the Camino Primitivo these days, it can also become a particularly original stop.
It is not every day that a stage ends with a show dedicated precisely to the universe you are traveling through.
The proposal will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3 and will be free to access.
When the Camino also knows how to laugh at itself
Sometimes we talk about the Camino with too much solemnity.
And yet, those who really know him know that during a pilgrimage he also laughs a lot.
From tiredness.
Of the errors.
Of absurd situations.
And, above all, from oneself.
Perhaps that is another of the great virtues of the Camino de Santiago: it gets very different people to share experiences that later become stories.
Some are exciting.
Others make you think.
And others simply make you laugh.
This Saturday in Castroverde, Leti da Taberna will try to demonstrate that the retranca can also carry a backpack and walk towards Santiago.
