Next June 20, the Camino de Santiago will experience a unique and exciting moment in honor of one of its most beloved figures.
The Camino de Santiago is not only walked… it is also felt. And there are people who leave such a deep mark that their story is already part of the Camino itself.
One of those people was Tomás de Manjarín, known by many as the “last Templar of the Camino.” For years, his figure, his hospitality and his way of understanding the Camino marked thousands of pilgrims who passed through that small refuge in the middle of nowhere.
Now, his daughter Esther has sent a message that is beginning to travel the Camino like another yellow arrow: an open invitation to all those who want to say goodbye to him.

A farewell in the heart of the Camino
The appointment will be next Saturday June 20 in one of the most symbolic places on the Camino de Santiago: the Cruz de Ferro.
There, at 12:00 p.m., a small event and prayer will be held in his memory. A simple, intimate and deeply significant moment, as Tomás' spirit always was.
From that point, attendees will walk like pilgrims to Manjarín, a route of just 2.3 kilometers, about a thirty-minute journey that will become something much more than a walk.
It will be a last accompaniment.
The sound of farewell
Upon reaching Manjarín, the bell will ring for the last time in his honor.
A gesture loaded with symbolism. A sound that many will remember, and that will now mark his final farewell in the place where he always wanted to be.
Later, his ashes will be deposited there, in his home, in that corner of the Camino that he turned into something special for so many.

A tribute open to all
The message is clear: anyone who wants can accompany them.
It is not a closed act. It is a shared farewell, as the Camino always was for Tomás.
Parking will be possible at Cruz de Ferro for those who need to do so, and there is also the possibility of approaching Manjarín directly by car, although space is limited.
The invitation is simple, but profound: come, walk, remember.
More than a farewell, a reunion
After the event, attendees will share a meal together, in an environment that reflects what they would have liked: closeness, stories, community.
Because the Camino is also that.
And Tomás knew it well.

The legacy of a man of the Camino
To talk about Tomás de Manjarín is to talk about a way of understanding the Camino that goes beyond the physical.
It is talking about hospitality without conditions, conversation without haste, humanity.
Many pilgrims remember him not for what he did... but for what he transmitted.
And that legacy lives on.
An invitation that travels the Camino
This message is not just a farewell.
It's a call.
To all those who passed through Manjarín.
To all those who shared a moment with him.
To all those who feel the Camino as something more than a route.
On June 20, the Camino will stop for a moment to remember.
And anyone who wants to be part... is already invited.
