Galicia promotes a great tourist route of more than 1,300 kilometers next to the sea
Galicia has taken an important step in one of the most ambitious tourism and environmental projects in recent years. The future Camino del Litoral begins its first conditioning works with the aim of creating a great route that will run along the entire Galician coast through more than 1,300 kilometers of trails, historical paths and natural spaces of enormous scenic value.
The initiative seeks to turn the Galician coast into a great corridor for pilgrims, hikers, cyclists and lovers of nature tourism. The route will allow you to discover beaches, cliffs, fishing villages, cultural heritage and some of the most spectacular landscapes in Spain, also generating new economic opportunities for small coastal towns.

The first actions have an initial investment of 1.1 million euros and will focus on twenty interventions spread across sixteen Galician municipalities. The works include cleaning trails, improving pavements, conditioning traditional paths, drainage and recovery of old historic steps that had lost part of their functionality over time.
One of the first points where the works will begin is in Outes, where an old road that historically connected different coastal areas will be recovered. The action aims to maintain landscape integration and respect the identity of the territories through which the future itinerary runs.
According to those responsible for the project, around 90% of the route will take advantage of already existing infrastructure, while only a small part will require specific interventions to guarantee the safety and continuity of the route. This will allow the development of the Camino del Litoral to be accelerated without significantly altering the natural environment.
In addition to improving trails, the project will incorporate specific signage and a mobile application with information on heritage, culture, natural spaces, gastronomy and tourist services. The objective is to offer a modern experience for travelers seeking adventure, sport, sustainable tourism and direct contact with the sea.
The future Coastal Path aspires to become one of the great hiking and pilgrimage routes in Europe. A unique route that will unite nature, active tourism, culture, history and economic development along the more than 2,500 kilometers of Galician coast, reinforcing the image of Galicia as one of the most attractive destinations for international tourism.
