A proposal that unites nature, history and the Camino de Santiago
The Camino de Santiago is also still alive in southern Spain. And in Mairena del Alcor they wanted to demonstrate it with an initiative that invites you to walk... but also to discover.
The municipality has organized a hiking route along the Camino Jacobeo de la Frontera, a proposal designed to bring neighbors and participants closer to one of the least known routes but with the most history of the Camino.
A different way of living the pilgrimage without leaving Andalusia.
A Path that many do not know
When talking about the Camino de Santiago, most think of the Camino Frances or the North. But there are other historical routes that also lead to Compostela, and one of them is the Camino de la Frontera.
This route crosses several Andalusian towns and is part of a network of roads that connect the south with the great Jacobean routes in the north.
Initiatives like this seek precisely that:
👉 give visibility to paths that have always been there... but that many do not yet know.

Hiking with meaning
The activity is not just a walk. It is a complete experience.
Participants will travel sections of the Camino while discovering the natural environment, the history of the territory and the importance that these routes had for centuries.
Because the Camino is also in those places where there are not always pilgrims... but there is history.
A project that connects municipalities and people
This route is part of a broader program that is being developed in the province of Seville, where dozens of municipalities participate in activities to recover and enhance the Jacobean paths that cross the territory.
The objective is clear:
- promote heritage
- boost local tourism
- and bring the Camino closer to the people
You don't have to go far to start walking.
The Camino also begins close to home
More and more people discover that the Camino does not begin in the north. It begins where one decides to take the first step.
In Mairena del Alcor, this hiking route is an opportunity for many to get started, get to know the environment and understand that the Camino is also part of their own territory.
Recover the spirit of the Camino
Beyond the tour, these types of activities recover something essential:
walk together, share and discover.
No rush.
No long stages.
But with the same spirit.
Because the Camino is not just about getting to Santiago…
It is also starting to feel it.
